| Skills recognition is a formal assessment process which acknowledges the skills, knowledge and competencies that you have gained through work, informal training and life experience. You will be asked to provide evidence that you have the skills and knowledge required by a set of national competency standards.
If you are successful, you will be given credit towards the achievement of a nationally recognised qualification. This may mean that you do not have to study to receive the qualification, or that you have fewer units to complete.

| There are three types of fees which are paid each semester at the time of enrolling. Full-time fees range between $450 and $900 per semester, although Maritime qualifications incur higher fees.
There is no enrolment fee for 2009 courses but course fee is made up of “tuition fee & resource fee”.
Maximum tuition fee is $570.00 (non-concession, per semester) or
Maximum tuition fee is $285.00 (concession, per semester
Various resource fees apply according to the selected courses.

Access & Bridging courses incur a $25 flat fee plus resource fee per semester.

- There are a number of ways to qualify for the concession rate. Please contact the college if you think you are eligible.
- There is a fees instalment plan/fees payment plan for students with valid concession or evidence of financial hardship.
- There are different fee arrangements for International students and Fee for Service training.
TAFE students do not pay HECS fees.

| - | Full-time Enrolments |
| To apply for entry to a full-time TAFEWA qualification, complete an Application Form which is available at any TAFEWA college, the Training Information Centre or in the TAFEWA Handbook.
Application Forms and supporting documents [copies of school reports, other qualifications and evidence of work experience] can be lodged at any TAFEWA campus or mailed to the TAFE Admissions Service address on the back of the Application Form. There is an application fee.
For online applications see www.tafe.wa.edu.au. Supporting documentation is still required.
There are two semesters each year: first semester runs from February to June and applications close in September; second semester runs from July to December and applications close in May.
NB: Not all qualifications are offered in the second semester.
Students in some bridging/access programs apply directly to the college.
TAFE Admissions contacts successful applicants by letter with details of enrolment dates. You can enrol at the college, through the call centre or online. Fees are paid at the time of enrolling. |

| This qualification is available as a Traineeship.
Traineeships
In a traineeship you also gain hands-on skills and work experience, and improve your employment prospects, while earning a wage. On successful completion you will gain a nationally recognised qualification which can lead to rewarding career options. The difference between a traineeship and an apprenticeship is that a traineeship can be either a full time or part time employment based training arrangement, usually for a nominal duration of 12 months or more, generally in a non-trade related area.

When you have completed your course or qualification, you will need to fill out an Application for Award so that you can receive your qualification. The Application for Award form is available from your lecturer and the Information Counter at any of our ten campuses. Enrolled students can download a copy from the Student portal which is accessed through the Challenger TAFE website http://www.challengertafe.wa.edu.au/ .
