| This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to cut hair using clippers or scissors, to shampoo, condition and rinse hair and dry and style hair using brushes, combs, rollers and other equipment. You will also learn skills to operate a cash register and computer, perform reception duties such as answering telephone calls and making appointments and write up client record cards.
Training for indentured Apprentices in Certificate III in Hairdressing. Apprentices attend classes one day per week or fortnight. |

| Completion of higher level TAFE qualifications (Certificate IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma) can sometimes provide an alternative pathway to university.

| Skills recognition is a formal assessment process which acknowledges the skills, knowledge and competencies that you have gained through work, informal training and life experience. You will be asked to provide evidence that you have the skills and knowledge required by a set of national competency standards.
If you are successful, you will be given credit towards the achievement of a nationally recognised qualification. This may mean that you do not have to study to receive the qualification, or that you have fewer units to complete.

| There are three types of fees which are paid each semester at the time of enrolling. Full-time fees range between $450 and $900 per semester, although Maritime qualifications incur higher fees.
There is no enrolment fee for 2009 courses but course fee is made up of “tuition fee & resource fee”.
Maximum tuition fee is $570.00 (non-concession, per semester) or
Maximum tuition fee is $285.00 (concession, per semester
Various resource fees apply according to the selected courses.

Access & Bridging courses incur a $25 flat fee plus resource fee per semester.

- There is a fees instalment plan/fees payment plan for students with valid concession or evidence of financial hardship.

| This qualification is available as an Apprenticeship.
Apprenticeships
An apprenticeship involves full time work with an employer who provides an opportunity to learn all aspects of a trade. This is a structured program for a fixed period of time and while you learn on the job, you also attend off the job training at a TAFEWA college or another registered training provider.

| Application for Award
When you have completed your course or qualification, you will need to fill out an Application for Award so that you can receive your qualification. The Application for Award form is available from your lecturer and the Information Counter at any of our ten campuses. Enrolled students can download a copy from the Student portal which is accessed through the Challenger TAFE website http://www.challengertafe.wa.edu.au/ .
